Brain Injury Awareness Month Media Release
June 3, 2010 Charlottetown, P.E.I. –

June is Brain Awareness Month and parents are being reminded of the importance of helmet safety. Wearing a helmet can significantly reduce the risks of brain injuries in many sport and recreational activities, such as skiing, biking and in-line skating. –

The following activities will be carried out to celebrate June as Brain Injury Awareness Month –

Brain Injury Coalition will have information displays set up across the province for the month of June –

· Dr Christine Beck will offer an information session Friday June 4th @ Confederation Centre Library from 3-4. All are welcome.–

· On Monday June 7th, Premier Robert Ghiz will sign a proclomation, proclaiming June as Brain Injury Awareness Month on PEI.–

· On Tuesday June 8th, the Brain Injury Coalition of PEI along with Mayor Clifford Lee and City Council will kick off Brain Injury Awareness Month with a BBQ in the green space between Charlottetown Hotel and the Fire Station. All monies raised will go to the Brain Injury Coalition.–

· The Brain Injury Coalition will have a draw for a Father's Day Basket. Tickets will be sold at local events and malls across the province. –

· On June 20th, the Brain Injury Coalition will have an information display at the Family Expo in Summerside.–

· Watch for BBQ's being held across the Island in support of the Brain Injury Coalition of PEI –
